Walk through the gateway, turn left up the path, ignore the first path on the right, keep going, and then right into the dense line of trees further along. In summer, lots of discreet, overgrown spots. Only 14 miles' drive from Newcastle/Gateshead, so worth checking out.
The most secluded spot is 3 minutes from the parking: go through the gate, turn left, keep walking on the path that runs parallel to the main road, ignore the path on the right, and then the trees get thicker. Someone has dumped a car bumper, and there is a white square board in the grass, and the small entrance to the secluded area is at this point. The exact co-ordinates are:-
